free workbook for playwrights.

free workbook for playwrights.

A weird play is any play you write from a position of impossibility. This free, downloadable workbook is full of specific advice for experimenting with genre-averse texts, with particular emphasis on creating monologues and solo plays.

This workbook is free, thanks to a generous grant from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis.

Included here is a free-to-perform, open-access solo play called The Pavement Kingdom: a clinic escort play. As part of my grant to create How To Write a Weird Play, I committed to creating an open-access play to accompany the workbook. Based on my own experience volunteering as a clinic escort at an abortion clinic, the play is about so much more than just standing in a parking lot.
